FIELD: chemical technology for heat-and-mass exchange apparatus; alumina production for heat treatment of aluminium hydroxide. SUBSTANCE: retardation zone of furnace is provided with sand gates and cyclone which make it possible to perform preliminary heating of hydroxide with waste gas directly in furnace and separate it from dust afterwards. Furnace includes cylindrical lined body 1 with cylinder 2 located coaxially relative to body 1. Casing 5 with cyclones 8 is secured inside cylinder 2 coaxially relative to it. Casing 6 closed with end partition 6 on side of motion of waste gas. Cyclone 8 and gas discharge branch pipes 9 are secured in tube sheets 7 and 10 mounted in casing 5 and in cylinder 2. EFFECT: intensification of regenerative heating and reduction of dust entrainment. 4 dwg
