FIELD: seismic survey. SUBSTANCE: pneumatic source includes base rod 2 with body 3 and casing 5 connected to the rod. Rod 2 is embraced by locking unit 4 and connected with solenoid-operated pneumatic valve 1. Locking unit 4 accommodates internally working chamber spaces 12 isolated one from the other. Pressure in these spaces may be different. Exhaust holes 13 are positioned at different levels. In the course of device operation locking unit 4 is displaced under action of pressure of compressed air available in auxiliary chambers 6 and 9. Pressure in working chamber does not change until discharge of air begins. Pulsations are suppressed due to multiple feed of compressed air into expanding pocket in the course of reciprocation of locking unit 4. EFFECT: improved acoustic efficiency due to increased intensity of seismic signal, its higher frequency and damped noise. 2 cl, 1 dwg
