FIELD: heat-insulating materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-temperature thermal equipment operating in vacuum, inert, or reducing atmosphere. Material constitutes an assembly of carbon felt layers thickened with pyrolyzed carbon, which is placed in envelop of binder coke filled with carbon fibers and pyrolyzed carbon, whereas between felt layers, layers of polymer resin coke particles may be inserted, and envelop is covered with a layer of pyrolytic graphite and/or pyrolytic silicon carbide. Method of preparation consists in shaping lamellar assembly in press mold whose walls and bottom are covered with prepreg based on coking polymer resin and carbon fiberfill which is further solidified in a sealed press mold, and is then thickened with pyrolyzed carbon and coated with pyrolytic graphite and pyrolytic silicon carbide.
