FIELD: instrument-making industry and may be used for determination of the direction of a geographic meridian with the help of a single -degree-of-freedom liquid-floated gyroscope.

SUBSTANCE: The mode is based on measuring of moments acting on a single-degree-of-freedom gyroscope activated in the mode of feedback. The precision axis of the gyro block is installed in vertical position. Measuring of the feedback current of the moment detector is made with averaging for a definite period of time in three positions: in the position of the axis of spinning of the gyroscope's rotor close to the north direction and in positions deployed in the directions of 180° and 90°. Before the first measuring the gyro block is turned around its precision axis in the direction of 360° collateral with vertical component of angular velocity of the Earth. Follow-on turns are also made in this direction.

EFFECT: increases accuracy of determination.
