FIELD: physics, acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: method for measurement of ice layer small thicknesses from underwater position, for instance, from submarine, is based on measurement of distances to lower and upper borders of ice layer by emission of noise signal and mutual correlating processing of echo-signals reflected from layer borders together with the reference signal. At that fading irregularity of different frequencies of echo-signal reflected from the upper layer is compensated by connection of correcting filter at correlator inlet for the time of this echo-signal reception.
EFFECT: higher validity of ice layer thickness measurement with preservation of measurements security and their accuracy.
