FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: converter has valve with spring adjusted to maximum exhaust backpressure. Valve is installed between inlet and outlet of converter or in partitions between sections of reaction chambers. Valve is plate structure with rod. Valve is of direct - action type. Number of valves depends on number of reaction chambers. At throttling and abrupt load rise, converter valve opens for short period of time equal, for instance, from 2 to 3 seconds, which contributes to reduction of sharp increase in backpressure and preserves accelerating properties of diesel engines.
