FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines; devices for cleaning diesel engine exhaust gases from harmful components and soot. SUBSTANCE: catalytic converter has housing with double walls with heat insulation placed in between, inner longitudinal and cross partitions, end face walls, inlet and outlet branch pipes, flanges, catalytic filters, reactor divided by partitions into several spaces for distribution of gas flows, cleaning of gases in filters and combining cleaned gas flows. Tube is installed in partition between gas flow distribution spaces. This tube is extension of inlet branch pipe. Spring-loaded valve with outlet into through-pass branch pipe is installed in end face part of tube. Through-pass branch pipe is arranged in longitudinal partition. Converter is provided with ferrules on which cermet filters are mounted. One part of filters contains high temperature catalysts, and other is provided with low temperature catalysts. Cermet filters can be made in form hollow cups with segment-section bottoms. Turnable tubular sector with port is arranged in pipe installed in partition between gas flow distribution spaces.
