FIELD: operation of internal combustion engine. SUBSTANCE: hydrogen supply pressure is set to provide air delivery into hydrogen duct at beginning of intake under action of wave gas-dynamic processes in intake manifold. Air precludes contact of hot combustion products at beginning of intake with hydrogen-air mixture in intake manifold behind the air. Flow of air from hydrogen duct into intake manifold at beginning of intake provides required delay in delivery. Cutoff of hydrogen delivery is provided before closing of intake valve owing to pressure rise in intake manifold at air braking at end of intake. After hydrogen cutoff last phase of intake continues and intake manifold is cleaned from hydrogen by air streams. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency owing to elimination of backfires in intake manifold. 2 dwg
