FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: ship handling consists in turning the rudder about the axis of rudder stock to preset side of turning the ship and is set at angle of attack in horizontal plane to incoming flow. Rudder is additionally turned about axis of horizontal hinge and plane of rudder is set at angle of attack in vertical plane to incoming flow. In handling the ship in longitudinal swell, axis of turn of rudder is oriented preliminarily perpendicularly to ship's CL. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 7 dwg
