FIELD: metallurgy; hydrometallurgical processing of manganese ore. SUBSTANCE: crushed manganese ore to be beneficiated was leached with sulfuric acid in presence of bivalent iron compounds at pH value of 2.0 to 2.6. Pulp pH value was then increased to 2.9 to 3.2, solid phase was separated from solution and manganese was precipitated by potassium hydroxide. Prior to adding calcium hydroxide to solution, carbonate-containing reagent was introduced with stirring during 0.5 to 0.75 h and pH value was stepped up to between 5.5 and 6.0. Manganese concentrate was filtered off and washed with water. Before washing, manganese concentrate was treated with carbonate- containing solution at flow rate of 0.01 to 0.25 g CO--(HCO-3

) per 1 g manganese concentrate. EFFECT: higher dressing efficiency and quality of manganese concentrate. 6 tbl
