METHOD OF DRAINING GYMNASTICS FOR TREATING OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASES Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, particularly, therapeutic physical training. SUBSTANCE: method of draining gymnastics used for treating obstructive pulmonary diseases and prescribing draining bronchi by therapeutic physical training is characterized in that, in order to minimize period of treatment and make draining procedure less discomforting, chest is subjected to relaxation reflex massage for 5 min followed by physiological breathing involving gradual prolongation of expiration and relaxation. Patient is then positioned on functional angle table or couch for draining with postisometric relaxation of muscles of arms, shoulder girdle in the end of each expiration and breath holding for 2 to 5 s. New method of draining gymnastics further includes elements of volitively controlling process of respiration, exercises of relaxation of muscles of arms, shoulder girdle and chest, segmental, spot, periosteal, and classical massage in combination with physiological respiration, respiration pauses lasting from 30 to 60 s, with head end of functional angle table or couch raised up, and broncho-delatation techniques of reflex massage. Draining exercises are continued in postural body positions using vibration massage of chest and elements of aural gymnastics. Procedure of draining gymnastics terminates in physiological breathing and relaxation of shoulder girdle muscles. Draining gymnastics lesson takes 30 to 35 min and is repeated daily.
