METHOD OF PATELLAR LIGAMENTPLASTY Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: medicine; traumatology and orthopedics. SUBSTANCE: after correlation of the severed ligament ends and their fixation by adapting sutures, canals are formed in a frontal plane: one in the middle of the kneepan transversely and three in the patellar ligament: a transverse one in its lower third and two oblique ones passing from the outset and terminal of the first canal to the opposite side of the ligament toward the lower patellar pole. A pedicle graft is formed from the broad fascia. The graft is introduced from outside into inside through the transverse canal of the patellar ligament distal part, turned upward, and, by overlapping the rupture region, introduced to the opposite side through the oblique canal from inside to outside. The graft is placed on the patellar external lateral surface, introduced through the transverse patellar body canal, passed down along the patellar internal lateral surface, and rum through the second oblique canal in the ligament from inside to outside and from the upper side downwards, crossing with its own ascending loop below the rupture line. The transplant is additionally fixed with interrupted sutures in the places where it is contiguous to fascial and tendinous tissues. EFFECT: lower rate of complications, cut down immobilization time, and earlier functional treatment due to the removal of the extension strain of the musculus quadriceps femoris.
