FIELD: manufacture of engines. SUBSTANCE: during start when intake valve 7 opens and piston 2 lowers creating rarefaction, combustible mixture or air is sucked into cylinder 1, after which intake valve 7 closes. At the beginning of compression, additional intake valve 10 opens and cylinder 1 is additionally charged with fresh charge from compressed gas source. During expansion stroke, exhaust valve 8 opens, thus letting exhaust gases escape from cylinder 1. Then additional intake valve 10 opens for scavenging cylinder 1 and purging it of exhaust gases. Intake valve 7 opens after closing of exhaust valve 8 and additional intake valve 10 and repeated opening of additional intake valve 10 is effected after closing of intake valve 7. EFFECT: increased specific power of engine through increased mass of fresh charge in cylinder. 4 dwg
