POLYSACCHARIDE GAMMA-PLANT (γ-PL) SHOWING ANTIINFECTION ACTION WITHOUT HEMAGGLUTINATING EFFECT Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2028303 C1

FIELD: biology, biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: polysaccharide gamma-plant (g-PL) isolated from dividing plant cells has mol. mass 2·106--9·105Д Da and the following composition of components, wt.-%: nitrogen 1.7-1.97; carbon 40.12-40.39; hydrogen 5.81-6.07, and ash - the rest. Polysaccharide has polysaccharide chain consisting of, wt.-%: neutral sugar residues 35-41; glucose 27-33; galacturonic acid 19-25; arabinose 1.7-2.3; uronic acids 12-18, and 0.5% protein (not less) consisting of amino acid residues at the following quantity (ng per 0.1 mg γ-PL): asparagine 126-146; serine 139-159; glutamine 263-283; glycine 117-131; alanine 80-100; valine 76-96; leucine 85-105; lysine 65-85; arginine 42-62, and the following amino acids at the trace quantity: cysteine, isoleucine, histidine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, threonine. Polysaccharide shows the following maxima of IR-spectrum (on KBr tablet): 3350, 2920, 1720, 1620, 1510, 1405, 1378, 1296, 1145, 1080, 1040, 920, 842 and 763 cm-1. Gamma-plant is not soluble in organic solvents but soluble in aqueous and salt solvent. Gamma-plant shows antiinfection action without hemagglutinating activity. EFFECT: isolation and properties of gamma-plant indicated above. 1 tbl
