FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is intended for provision of reliable operation of machine when searching for point of loss of sealing of winding without its disconnection. In compliance with method concentration of hydrogen dissolved in distillate of winding is found without stopping gas supply into cooling circuit of winding, gas pressure in case of machine and pressure of water at entry and exit of winding are measured. Point of loss of sealing is found by change of parameters measured before and after change of pressures of cooling media.
