FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is meant for control over development rate of defects leading to loss of tightness of water-cooled windings of large-capacity turbo-generators to provide for correction of defects during scheduled maintenance without removal of generators for unscheduled repairs. For achievement of this purpose temperature of cooling agent in cooling system is monitored as well as feeding of hydrogen into cooling circuit of stator winding. Temperature of cooling agents is changed within range permissible for operation till feeding of hydrogen into winding circuit decreases. Generator continues running at temperatures of cooling agents corresponding to minimal feeding of hydrogen into cooling circuit of winding. EFFECT: improved authenticity of control over development rate of cracks.
