FIELD: thermal power stations and vehicles; heat and power generation. SUBSTANCE: power unit that has equipment for fuel, air, and water treatment and supply, water and/or coolant heating and circulation, and at least one electric generator with expansion machine is provided, in addition, with at least one set of equipment for thermal separation of fuel into gaseous and solid fractions including at least one gas producer in the form of hollow combustion chamber with hollow hermetically sealed insert connected to gate valves. Power unit is equipped with at least one gas-turbine expansion machine that utilizes heat of combustion products picked off the outlet of rotary cylindrical expansion machine; the latter has cylindrical casing accommodating concentrically arranged ribbed rotor and seals in the form of cylindrical bodies of revolution. Power unit is designed to burn solid fuels as well as combustible domestic and industrial wastes and can use to advantage gas- turbine engines whose service life has expired.
