FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-destructive testing of shafts of turbine units, mainly of turbine units of power plants, including turbine and electric generator. To achieve target on operating turbo unit by means of known devices measuring frequency of torsional vibrations of shaft of first and/or second and next forms of natural vibrations, additionally measured parameters of operation mode of turbine unit, for example, active power generator, reference determined dependence of frequency and/or frequency of torsional vibrations of shaft of turbine operation mode parameters and indicates presence of fatigue damage of shaft and level of damages at deviation of measured value of frequency of torsional vibrations of shaft from reference dependence.

EFFECT: technical result consists in possible detection of fatigue cracks on turbo unit shaft at initial stage of their development.
