FIELD: foundry engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed to precise detection of defected spaces limits in ingots and reduce metal losses. The aim is achieved due to device construction. Device has split roller with auxiliary supports, source of directed emission, optical reflector and emission receiver. Supports bodies are mounted on a frame. Device is provided with closed shell positioned in a frame parallel to roller. Directed emission source is placed inside the shell at its side about longitudinal axle. Frame mounted auxiliary support body is set up with a margin on a frame body for its movement and is fixed to the frame with the drives inside the shell. Emission receiver is mounted on one of them. Directed emission receiver of the following device variety is provided with luminous flux former made as planoconvex lens and reflector is made as spherical concave mirror.
