FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: when the engine is not in operation, by-pass valve 5 is open and main valve 4 is closed. After starting the engine, coolant begins to flow around heat sensitive member 6. When the temperature of coolant achieves 90°C, by-pass valve is fully closed, main valve 4 is fully open, and coolant begins to circulate in the large cooling loop.
