FIELD: production of facing tiles. SUBSTANCE: "puff pastry" is made from a decorative mixture with layers colored by introduced pigments. A single-article portion is severed from the mass. The decorative layer is placed by transverse cutting of the portion onto the glass backing of a mold, then said decorative layer is compacted by repeated rolling. The carrier layer from a coarse mixture of cement with sand is laid by portions followed by compaction rolling. Installation for realization of the method comprises a compacting device in the form of frame-mounted rolls and a catch, a feeding hopper with a set of plates, each installed on an axle whose free end carries a vertical lever interacting with the catches, molds arranged one after another and having double trays consisting of a main plate and an auxiliary plate carrying glass backing, and a mold propulsion mechanism in the form of a U-shaped link.
