SUBSTANCE: lamp has a cylindrical bulb with electrodes on its ends which form a discharge gap. Inside the bulb, outside the discharge gap, there are two or more open pockets containing an amalgam, where at least two of them have different depth relative the lamp electrode. The amalgam in the pockets can have the same or different composition.

EFFECT: achieving efficient maximum radiation output in a wide temperature range.
