FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: radiation source consists of a low-pressure mercury amalgam lamp, with an airtight attachment installed around it, directly at the amalgam location. The side walls of the lamp and the attachments form an air gap between them, which serves as thermal insulation of the amalgam and for maintaining the amalgam temperature at an optimum level. The air gap size is mainly selected from a range of 1 to 6 mm. The airtight attachment is made of a material resistant to the ultraviolet radiation.

EFFECT: cleans or disinfects air at high blow rates.
