FIELD: technology of ceramics producing. SUBSTANCE: method involves mixing titanium nitride and aluminium oxide powder taken at the ratio, wt.-% aluminium oxide 62-64 and titanium nitride 36-38 followed by their combined grinding, blank forming and roasting in oxygen-containing atmosphere up to ceasing blank mass and volume changes. Before or after blank forming action of oxygen-containing atmosphere on the titanium nitride grains is carried out before titanium dioxide formation in grains at concentration 95 wt.-% not above. After cooling reaction-caked monophase ceramics made of aluminium titanate is obtained. The yield is increased up to 111% This ceramics shows finely grained structure. EFFECT: increased mechanical strength at decreased values of thermal linear expansion coefficient. 1 tbl
