FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves mixing the powders of titanium dioxide, titanium nitride and aluminium oxide in a relation, wt.-%: aluminium oxide, 56.0-63.9; titanium nitride, 0.1-37.9; titanium dioxide, 0.1-43.0 and their joint milling, molding of blanks and firing in oxygen-containing atmosphere until the weight of blanks stops changing. The material resulting after cooling is reaction-baked single-phase ceramic material of aluminium titanate. This ceramic material is of a fine-grained structure and features high mechanical strength at low thermal coefficient of linear expansion. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
