FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: cathode used as current leading member is positioned in shell with outer layer made from aluminum and inner layer made from material inert to melts and electrolyte of high-temperature material with titanium diboride on surface (for example graphite with TiB2 coating or baked TiB2). Cathode allows refining temperature to be increased to optimum value (about 800 C). EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced heat loss and improved technical and economic index of existing aluminum refining process. 1 dwg
