FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method for production of reaction-baked ceramics from aluminium titanate involves mixing powders of silicon, titanium dioxide and aluminium nitride in the following relation: wt.-%: aluminium nitride, 47.5-51.9; titanium dioxide, 45-50.0; silicon, 0.1-5.0, preparing charge, for example, by their joint milling, and of molding mass, molding of ceramic blanks followed by firing them in oxygen-containing atmosphere until their mass stops changing. After cooling, baked ceramic material is produced from aluminium titanate whose yield rises to 112-113%. The produced ceramic material has a fine-grained structure and a higher strength limit at reduced values of thermal coefficient of linear expansion. EFFECT: intensified production of ceramic articles and higher output of products from unit of area or equipment. 1 tbl
