FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: fast reactor passive shielding device has head, case, and shank. Rod 3 secured along axis of head 1 carries spring 12, moving weight 8 with C-shaped lug 9, joint built up of mating projections 5 and slots 6 embraced by movable ring 7, and bundle of absorbing rods 4, all arranged in tandem. With spring 12 compressed, weight 8 is held in position through rocker arm 11 by bimetal strip 10. In case of emergency temperature rise in coolant strip bends and releases weight 8 which shifts through its C-shaped lug ring 7 and releases joint at mating line between projection 5 and slot 6. In the process, absorbing rod dropped into core to suppress chain reaction. EFFECT: improved design. 3 cl, 3 dwg
