Device inspecting state of surface of melted metal has source and detector of centimetric waves of SHF range, receiving-transmitting antenna located, for instance, on vertical axis above center of bath with melt, filter manufactured from material letting waves of centimetric waves of SHF range pass and retaining rays of thermal range placed between antenna and bath with metal, measurement unit including mixer of emitted and received frequencies, units registering frequencies and amplitudes of difference signal.
