FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed to be used when smelting pig iron in blast furnaces from titanium-magnetite ores. Process of smelting using titanium-containing blend composed of nonfluxed pellets and fluxed agglomerates is distinguished with that, content of nonfluxed pellets in iron-ore part of blend is varied within the range 20-70% (everywhere wt %). In this case, if portion of nonfluxed pellets is about 20%, then 45-50% of iron-ore material is fed into zone distanced from furnace periphery up to 0.5 R (R is throat radius), natural gas flow is set within the range 60-70 cu.m per 1 t of pig iron, and coke rate is controlled in such a way that titanium content in pig iron were 0.3-0.35% and, on increase in content of nonfluxed pellets, each additional 10% of those entail 5-8% increase in portion of iron-ore materials in zone distanced from furnace periphery, while natural gas flow is raised by 6-14 cu.m per 1 t of pig iron, and coke rate is decreased such as to provide 0.02-0.04% decrease in titanium portion in pig iron. EFFECT: coke rate reduced at least by 5% and productivity increased by 4-8%. 4 tbl
