FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: trans- cyclohexane-1,2-diol is prepared by reaction of cyclohexene with hydrogen peroxide at 40-80 C in presence of sodium tungstenate or ammonium paratungstenate, phosphoric or pyrophosphoric acid, and quaternary ammonium salt of general formula (CnH2n+1R1R2)+NX where n = 6-20 and X is chloride, bromide, iodide, hydrosulfate, and nitrate anions, R1,R2,R3 = Cp H2p+1 with p =1-20 or phenyl. Molar ratio of cyclohexene : hydrogen peroxide : phosphoric acid : ammonium salt : tungstenate salt = 1 : (0.1-0.3) : (10-6-10-1) : (10-5-10-1) : (10-7-10-3). Selectivity of reaction in respect to peroxide is 78-100%, and that to olefin 97-99%. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis. 2 cl, 1 tbl
