FIELD: gauze filters for liquid and gas media. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gauze filtering members mainly designed for ultra- and microfiltration in biotechnology, medicinal and other industries. Method includes treatment of inorganic gauze basis with a IV-VI group metal oxide sol and consequent drying and two-step thermal treatment, temperature of the first step being 200-600 C and that of the second step being by 300-500 C lower than melting point of gauze basis material. As a latter, stainless steel or nickel gauze, and as a sol, zirconium and titanium oxide sols may be used. EFFECT: improved procedure of filtering member preparation. 3 cl, 1 tbl, 3 dwg
