FIELD: continuous casting of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: crystallizers, mainly bushing or compounded ones designed for casting quality stock and blooms, are cooled by means of feeding into crystallizer cooled space a cooling agent, being a water-air emulsion preliminarily prepared in jet pump. Emulsion is fed as a continuous stream along cooled wall of the crystallizer observing injection coefficient =3-18 with water input 9.4-16.7 kg/sec and ranges of the following relationships: =1.4-2.1, = 1.03-1.1, and M = = 1.9-2.1, where Gt and Gp are weight inputs of water and air for one cooled crystallizer wall, kg/sec; Pn and Pp are initial pressures of water and air before jet apparatus, N/sq.m; Pc is pressure in mixing chamber of jet apparatus, N/sq.m; M is Mach number; ωa isoentropy rate of gas, m/sec; and a is sound velocity in a given medium, m/sec.
