FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of cooling of slabs in continuous casting machines for production of curvilinear blanks. According to proposed method of dynamic control of slab cooling in secondary cooling zone of continuous casting machine, water flow rate according to zones is found from mathematical expression using time counter from moment of beginning of casting and dependence of convective heat transfer factor on slab surface from time of keeping of slab in continuous-casting machine which depends on conditions of cooling of steel grade found by calculation when solving the problem of hardening at preset change of temperature of slab surface.
EFFECT: provision of control of slab cooling conditions in zone of secondary cooling making it possible to provide required change of slab surface temperature at stationary and transient conditions of casting, improved quality of metal.
