B_i, where G_i - water flow rate in i-zone, cub.m/h; i =1, 2,…, N - index presenting number of zone for secondary cooling; τ - current time moment counted from moment of starting casting process, c; α(τ*) - relationship of coefficient of heat removal on surface of slab (Wt/sq.m) from time τ* determined according to cooling mode for concrete steel kind by calculations at deciding solidification task at predetermined temperature change on slab surface t=t(τ*); τ*=τ*(z,t) - time period (c) of presence in machine of slab element which at given time moment τ is in point z of technological axis determined with use of integral equation where ν(τ¹) -change of casting rate in time, m/c; g_i(α) -function inverse to relation α(g_i) where g_i - specific flow rate of cooling agent ( cub. m/sq .m^.h) in i-zone of cooling, α-coefficient of heat removal on the surface. Relations α(g_i) ( i= 1,2,…, N ) may be different for separate zones; z_i - coordinates, for example of mean portions of zones, m, measured from meniscus; l_i - length values of zones, m; B_i - cooled width of slab in i-zone, m.

EFFECT: enhanced quality of metal due to controlled mode of cooling slabs in secondary cooling zone and desired temperature change of slab surface in stationary and transient modes of casting process.
