FIELD: wood-working industry. SUBSTANCE: device for proximity determination of moisture content of lumber has pulse generator of electric signals, capacitive primary converter, instrument and conversion unit, indicator and power supply unit. Capacitive primary converter is manufactured in the form of plate put on one wall of body or being part of this wall. Body proper is fabricated in the form of electric screen. Plate can be sectional with sections being tied up to corresponding inputs of instrument and conversion unit. In this case plate functions as active electrode and conductive ground is used as second electrode. It can be formed artificially.
