METHOD OF CLEANING AIR FROM ORGANIC IMPURITIES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: chemical, petrochemical and light industries and mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: air containing organic admixtures, butanol, for example, is passed through zone of pulse gaseous discharge. Pulse duration is equal 10^-2-100 mks. Pulse repetition frequency ranges from 0.1 to 10 kHz. Degree of cleaning the air from butanol at this stage ranges from 64 to 95%. Then, gas to be cleaned is passed through photocatalyst unit which may be provided with tubular glass elements with layer TiO₂ applied to them. Photocatalyst is illuminated by source of light in visible or ultra-violet range. Gas is fully cleaned from organic admixtures at photocatalysis. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
