METHOD OF IONIC-PLASMA TREATMENT OF LENGTHENED PIECES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: method is used for materials surface treatment using plasma of anomalous glow discharge and is designated for cleansing and thermal treatment of long metal pieces - mainly wire an d band and for coatings application on them. SUBSTANCE: continuously moving in longitudinal direction treated piece of current conducting material is used as one of electrodes to incite discharge and it is placed in magnetic field, magnetic force lines of which in discharge zone are directed along surfaces of pieces and second electrode of opposite polarity potential. In separate single cases of the method realization magnetic field lines in discharge zone are directed along long side of piece, along its width (during treatment of piece made in the form of flat band) or embracing piece ring type magnetic field is used, that is created by electric current passing along piece. For cleansing and / or piece thermal treatment it is used as cathode and during coating application on piece surface - as anode. In the case cathode is made of material, that is to be used for piece coating. In process of treatment given ratio between piece movement speed and current of discharge is kept. As a version, piece during its motion is at least twice subjected to action of plasma of gas discharge and during first phase of treatment it is used as cathode and during last phase - as anode. Method allows to treat simultaneously at least two lengthened pieces, that are placed, for example, along cylindrical surface generatrix directed along magnetic field lines. In the case second electrode is made in the form of embracing the surface and coaxial to it shell and electrically connected with it current conducting rod located along their common axis.
