FIELD: metallurgy of nonferrous metals, particular, electrolytic production of magnesium and chlorine in continuous production line. SUBSTANCE: impurities from melt are electrochemically removed in the first, in melt flow, electrolytic compartment with 0.5-0.75 of nominal electrode spacing and high electrode current density, and electrolysis of magnesium chloride is carried out in the last compartment with optimal electrode spacing. EFFECT: higher chloride melt purification efficiency, reduced labor input and specific consumption of electric power. 1 dwg
