FIELD: armor protection of people and transport facilities against bullet hittings. SUBSTANCE: armor element uses ceramic plate 1 installed on laminated backing 2 of high-modulus organic fabric impregnated with cement and enclosed in laminated shell 5 of high-modulus organic fabric; backing 2 envelops ceramic plate 1 over the lateral surface, and layer 4 of plastic polymer, for instance polyethylene, is installed on ceramic plate 4 with backing 2 over the entire surface. Mechanical strength of backing 2 may exceed the mechanical strength of laminated shell 5. Shock-absorbing layer 3, that may be made of metal- clad rubber, may be installed between ceramic plate 1 and laminated backing 2. The method of production of armor element consists in the fact that ceramic plate 1 is faced on one side and over lateral surfaces with layers of high-modulus fabric impregnated with cement on hot-cured binder. Then ceramic plate 1 with backing 2 is coated with plastic polymer, and high-modulus organic fabric impregnated with cement is wound on the obtained blank over the entire surface. The coating of plastic polymer may be applied by spraying of particles of thermoplastic polymer from a boiling layer. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 7 cl, 1 dwg
