FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: multi-layer armoured barrier comprises substrate, a layer of ceramic plates adjacent to each other and external lining. Ceramic plates are fixed to external lining, substrate and between each other, in areas of their ends adjacency to each other with the help of sealant. Ceramic plates are arranged with size from 45*45 to 100*100 mm from reactionary bound silicon carbide with density of 2.9-3.1 g/cm3, microhardness of 26-29 GPa, have mechanically processed surface by thickness of 0.05-1.5 mm and notches on surface in the form of net. Besides plates are displaced in a layer relative to each other by half of their dimensional size. Substrate is arranged from aluminium alloy or titanium or organic composite on the basis of high-module organic tissue or their combination. Lining is arranged of two layers of high-module organic tissue impregnated with glue on epoxide binder. Thickness of sealant layer between ceramic plates does not exceed 0.4 mm.
EFFECT: increased resistance to armour-piercing bullets and reduction of behind-barrier action.
