METHOD OF MARKING AND IDENTIFICATION OF VALUABLE DOCUMENTS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: marking and identification of objects. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to valuable documents, art works (e.g. paintings) and also for preparing ink and dyes with elevated level of protection against adulteration designed to impress marks, which might be of use when manufacturing documents of special importance whose authenticity is to be reliably proved. Composition of label provides its masking in marked material that does not make it possible to disclose and identify mark using polymerase chain reaction procedure without having information on primary sequence of DNA fragment (label) and also provides longer storage time of given mark. Invention includes introducing into or applying onto material to be marked a mark constituting fragment of a natural or synthesized DNA with known structure and preparing primers for identification of mark constituting two or more oligonucleotides complementary to regions of introduced or applied DNA fragment. Mark is identified using polymerase chain reaction procedure involving prepared oligonucleotides-primers. Nark additionally contains fragmented DNA from procaryotic or eucaryotic genome in amount sufficient for long- time storage of mark and its masking in marked material.
