FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extra- furnace steel treatment using electroarc heating in ladle. Smelted in steelmaking unit metal is poured into ladle, alloying agents are added, metal is stirred by way of blowing in neutral gas into ladle with simultaneously heating metal by electroarc heater. During the heating, silicon-containing alloy is loaded into arc action zone with per-minute input value determined from dependence Q = (10-1000)q where Q is per-minute ferrosilicon input (kg silicon/t per 1 min), q per-minute input of neutral gas (cu.m/t per 1 min), and (10-1000) empirical coefficient characterizing degree of assimilation of ferrosilicon with smelt. After smelt heating is terminated, neutral gas keeps being fed for a time determined from relationship: τ =(0.05-0.5) where (0.05-0.5) is empirical coefficient characterizing degree of stirring smelt [(min•t)1/2•m3/2], and τ is time, min.
