FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: method may be used in grinding of materials difficult to work on surface and numerical-control machines for finishing operations. Reciprocating motion relative to wheel is imparted to workpiece. Use is made of grinding wheel, which cutting working end serves as a starting cone. Calibrating part is made at angle of α and length Lc determined with due regard for cutting conditions. Rotation, feed motion and auxiliary oscillatory backward-rotary lateral-direction motions are imparted to wheel. Oscillatory motions are performed relative to vertical axis at swing angle β. When is positioned at angle α to vertical axis. The angle equals slope of calibrating part. Dependencies for selection of angle α, lengths of calibrating part and swing angle of oscillatory motions are presented. During operation load is taken by elongated section with tapered and flat surfaces which reduces specific loads on cutting grains, thus precluding their crumbling out. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, improved quality of working. 2 cl, 4 dwg, 1 ex
