DRAWING BENCH Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: production of wire or other shapes, possibly wire drawing out of melt. SUBSTANCE: drawing bench includes frame with guide, clamping carriage, drawing die, unit for driving carriage in the form of crank gear whose crank being gear wheel with radial groove. Block with semiaxle for head of connecting rod is arranged in said radial groove. Clamping carriage has central through duct for passing drawn shape. Around said central duct there are convergent passages inclined relative to said central duct and connected with its inlet part. Ball-type or roller-type clamping members are placed in said passages, they are spring-loaded for convergence. Two or more, preferably four, clamping carriages may be mounted on guide. At operation of drawing bench clamping carriages by means of crank gears perform individual reciprocation motion along free portions of said guide with phase shift one relative to another for clamping drawn shape at working stroke, transferring it from one carriage to another and in the result axially pulling it in drawing direction. Amplitude of said reciprocation motion and therefore drawing speed are controlled by means of shifting said block with subsequent rigid fixation of it in radial groove.
