METHOD FOR PRODUCING BARS IN JOINT CASTING AND ROLLING MACHINE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, continuous casting of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method involves melting semifinished product in electrical furnace; complex working in ladle, casting billets in continuous casting machine; heating billets in inductor; rolling in small-section mill with group of alternating vertical and horizontal stands and multiple-stand finishing mill; cooling rolled products. Semifinished product is manufactured by charge making 2-3 weights of poured melt. Upon complex working in ladle, metal is sequentially poured to produce billets with section area equal to 14-130 of section area of ready rolled products and rolled in group of roughing stands according to square-rectangle-square pattern in first pairs of stands at total drawing rate of 7-8 and square-oval-circle pattern in terminating pair of stands at total drawing rate of 2-3, and in group of finishing stands in accordance with circle-oval-circle pattern at total drawing rate of 5-6. Prior to transfer to group of finishing stands, product is propped to form loop equal to 3-20 thickness of rolled product.
