FIELD: production of synthetic diamond monocrystals at preset physical properties. SUBSTANCE: proposed method is based on decomposition of silicon carbide in aqueous medium into which at least one soluble chloride of magnesium, calcium, chromium or iron is introduced. Silicon carbide decomposition process is conducted at temperature range of from 200 C to 350 C. Chemical soluble agents containing diamond alloying admixtures may be additionally introduced into aqueous medium. EFFECT: simplified procedure; low cost of process; low level of defects in crystal lattices; possibility of alloying diamonds with admixtures for obtaining required physical properties. 2 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
