FIELD: glass melting. SUBSTANCE: in installation comprising furnace with heating elements and hardening chamber including blowing unit with nozzles and cooling regulators and horizontal transport rolls, cooling regulators are made in the form of plates disposed above and below transport rolls, surface of lower plate being made with high degree of heat radiation reflection. The latter is corrugated and installed free to be lifted and descended in such a manner that, when plate is in its lifted position, corrugates pass between rolls to the level which is above lowest points of rolls. Hardening procedure includes feeding sheet glass into furnace by horizontal transport rolls, heating and subsequently cooling sheet glass in hardening chamber. Invention is distinguished with measuring sheet glass length before and after hardening and, when length difference is disclosed, rolls are stopped, lower cooling regulator plate in inclined such as to make one of its edges to be located essentially below than its other edge to enable removing glass fragments. EFFECT: enabled hardening with preselected controllable cooling rate. 10 cl, 6 dwg
