METHOD OF GRAVITY SEPARATION OF PARTICLES OF POWDER MATERIAL Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: separation of solid materials with the help of liquid in mineral concentration and investigations. SUBSTANCE: use is made of table concentrator with longitudinal inclination of its deck which has high riffles at ends. Upper end of deck is secured with hinge. Deck executes reciprocations, both in longitudinal and transverse directions with rising amplitude and speed of transverse reciprocation as pulp is moved in longitudinal direction. Liquid and initial material are supplied to middle upper part of deck. Pulp runs down in deck upper part as along narrowing launder, fills deck lower and middle part up to definite level depending on the height of extreme riffles and transverse reciprocations. Pulp in lower part of deck partially separates into layers in narrowing launder and continuous separating into layers due to segregation in relatively thick laminar flow of pulp. Lower layers of pulp containing particles with relatively higher density move under action of inertia mechanism of longitudinal motion in middle part of deck to its lower end, and relatively light particles found in pulp upper layers are carried by liquid flow in transverse direction due to its transverse reciprocation downward and run off the deck in its lower corners. Separating is carried out with use of obstacles located at the edges of working surface to slow down motion in longitudinal direction. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
