COLUMN WITH ALIVE-TYPE ONE-THROUGH PLATES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: mass-transfer columns for interaction of gas (vapor)-liquid systems in absorption, rectification and gas scrubbing processes. SUBSTANCE: column includes vertical cylindrical housing with horizontal one-through valve-type plates located in tiers. Plates are provided with overflow devices and are divided by diametrical partitions located in one vertical plane adjoining the wall of housing over vertical line. Length of each partition exceeds half diameter of housing. Overflow device of each valve-type plate is made in area where diametrical partition adjoins the housing. Overflow devices are made in the form of overflow half-segment perpendicular to diametrical partition. On one side this half-segment adjoins diametrical partition and on other side it adjoins the housing. Upper horizontal edge of half-segment is located above plane of plate and lower edge is located above plane of lower plate. Drain strip is located in parallel with lower edge of half-segment on each plate on side of center of housing; upper edge of this strip is located above lower edge of half-segment. Valve-type plates are provided with holes evenly located over concentric circles with straight-way valves mounted in them. Each valve is provided with two short and one long thrust legs.
